SNAP plus Program

The SNAP Plus/Produce Perks program at Findlay Market helps families afford more fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy food typically found in the Findlay Farmers Market.

Since 2007, food stamp shoppers have been able to use their EBT cards to purchase one-dollar brass tokens that they can spend like cash in our farmers market. SNAP Plus enhances this service by providing food stamp shoppers a match to their spending - the incentive is a dollar-for-dollar match to every dollar spent (up to $10) using an Ohio Direction Card at the market, ffectively doubling your purchasing power of healthy fresh food.

In 2014, the Findlay Farmers Market and Findlay Market Farmsteads were part of the Produce Perks pilot program in Hamilton County. Other participating markets include: Northside Farmers Market, Lettuce Eat Well Farmers Market, College Hill Farmers Market, Wyoming Farmers Market. As the name suggests, Produce Perks are only good for purchasing fruits and vegetables.

How SNAP Plus/Produce Perks Program Works at Findlay Market

  • Go to Findlay Farmers Market on: Saturdays from 8 am - 2 pm or Sundays from 10 am - 2 pm
  • Take your EBT card to Education Tent on south side of farmers market during farmers market hours or to the cashier at Market Center inside main market house.
  • The incentive is a dollar-for-dollar match to every dollar spent (up to $10) using an Ohio Direction Card at the market.
  • Pay for your Findlay Farmers Market purchases with the tokens - every Farmers Market vendor will accept them. Brass tokens can only be used to purchase USDA-SNAP eligible food items and green Produce Perks tokens can only be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

SNAP plus at Findlay Market is made possible with generous support from the P&G Fund.
