Art & Poetry is our annual FREE celebration of the creative arts. Spend the day making art with friends, watch live performances throughout the day, and sign up to participate in the Poetry Slam. Thank you to Women Writing for (a) Change for sponsoring this year’s event.

Programming

Art in Poetry, Poetry in Art with Creative Asian Society | 10 AM - 2 PM

Local artist Priya Rama will teach participants how to create their very own abstract painting. This event takes place in front of NOLI Modern.

Floating Poetry Activity with Art Equals | 10 AM - 2 PM

What happens to all those drafts of poems in the making? At Art Equals, they get used to make new paper. Join us to make hand made paper that can be the springboard for new creations. Using hand selected words and the power of water, let the muses select the arrangement of your next poetry masterpiece.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s Macbeth | 1 PM - 3 PM

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company presents Shakespeare's Macbeth, a supernatural thriller about free will and the price of ambition. This performance will take place at Jane’s.

Poems in a Jiffy with Mean Street Gallery | 1 PM - 6 PM

Offer up just a few words and a resident artist from Mean Street Gallery will whip you up a poem…in a jiffy!

Open Mic @ Jane’s | 4 PM - 5 PM

Featuring DJ Queen Celine and Emcee Gifted Johnson-Wilkinson

The evening begins at Findlay Kitchen, where guests will be greeted with a glass of champagne and light bites from Findlay Market Merchants, and ends at Northern Row Distillery with a closer look at their Five Stories Spirits lineup.

EARTH DAY AT FINDLAY MARKET

Sustainability is a core value of Findlay Market. We developed our Greening the Market Initiatives to put our values into practice within our community, including a residential composting program, EV chargers in the North lot, solar panels on the Market House, and more. Earth Day with ETC Produce + Provisions

 Join us this Saturday, April 20 from 10 AM - 2 PM at Elaine’s Kitchen at the market for a planting activity in partnership with ETC Produce + Provisions. ETC will also be giving out free microgreens kits while supplies last at their storefront on Saturday. 

Central Ohio River Valley

Central Ohio River Valley will be set up at the market this Saturday, April 20 from 10 AM - 2 PM, handing out local food guides, talking about the importance of eating local!

The Central Ohio River Valley (CORV) initiative is a grassroots effort to connect community members with local growers and fresh, healthy local food. It aims to promote self-sufficiency, sustainability, and the wise use of resources.

Earth Day Clean Up with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful

Join Keep Cincinnati Beautiful this Saturday, April 20 in from 9 AM - 12 PM in greening Over-the-Rhine in honor of Earth Day! The focus will be on litter & recycling collection, planting and mulching at a community garden, planters on Green Street, and the OTR Recreation Center. There will also be some environmental organizations on-site providing information on waste reduction and more. Sign up below!

Red Hot Rumble Hot Sauce Competition

We will be hosting the Inaugural Red Hot Rumble Hot Sauce Competition at 3 PM at Jane's! It’s a battle between Merchants and the best hot sauce chef wins a homemade trophy and bragging rights until 2025. The sauces will be judged by Engine 5 firefighters on the following three categories – taste, heat level, and uniqueness.

Join us in celebrating the Grand Opening of Fill More Waste Less, a zero waste refillery located at 1813 Elm street. Fill More Waste Less is a sustainable store that offers refillable, reusable, compostable items to help the community reduce the amount of plastic they use. Sustainable habits take time to build and Fill More Waste Less is here to offer resources, education, and community to all who need it.
