ECONOMIC IMPACT REPORT
From its early days, Findlay Market’s role in the local economy was essential. It was a place where Cincinnatians could purchase fresh meat, produce, and dairy directly from farmers, fostering a strong connection between urban consumers and rural producers. Still today, Findlay Market is a community hub and an economic driver at the heart of our city.
To paint a clearer picture of the breadth and depth of Findlay Market’s impact on the community, we published an Economic Impact Report, detailing the tangible ways that Ohio’s oldest public market has touched the lives of shoppers, merchants, and employees in the Market District over the last several years. This study was accomplished alongside the Cincinnati Regional Chamber’s Center for Research and Data, and offers a whole new perspective of Findlay Market’s impact on our local and regional economies.
The Center for Research & Data collected survey data from dozens of businesses at Findlay Market and analyzed financial data recorded by the Corporation for Findlay Market to create this report. Their findings not only shed light on the massive growth Findlay Market has experienced in the last few years, but give us a glimpse into the future, just as Findlay Market prepares to celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2027.
Findlay Market has always been a cornerstone of Cincinnati. Since its establishment, it's been a reliable source of fresh food for locals. It's been a gathering place for the community, a place to celebrate and spend time with loved ones. It's been a hub of enterprise for hundreds of businesses over the past 173 years. It's been a key driver in our local economy since 1852. Today, Findlay Market is still every one of those things. It's just as important today as it was the day it opened its doors. But now, we understand the true impact this place has on our local and regional economies.
