How to use EBT by State

For EBT Cards in Indiana:

Indiana EBT cards are called “Hoosier Works” cards.

"In Indiana, participants in SNAP and TANF access their EBT benefits using the Hoosier Works card. The card works like a bank debit card. Indiana cardholders can use their Hoosier Works card at any store in the United States that accepts food assistance.”

For EBT in Kentucky:

Application can be found here: https://benefind.ky.gov/

“SNAP benefits can be used just like money to purchase almost any food item, except ready-to-eat hot foods. You may also use SNAP benefits to buy seeds and plants to grow fruits and vegetables. The following items cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits: tobacco, alcohol, pet food, soap and other household products, medicines, and other non-food items.”

For EBT in Ohio:

Ohio EBT cards are called “Direction” cards

“The new EBT cards can be used by our customers anywhere in Ohio as well as in other states. This makes it easy for our customers to access their food stamp benefits in the event of their moving or in emergency situations. Benefits do not have to be “loaded” prior to the end of the month.”
