You know how it goes: a family member makes something delicious, you ask for the recipe, and if you’re lucky, they eventually hand it over. That is exactly how it started for Always Canning. Regular trips from Cincinnati to Louisville always included a request for owner, Natalie Santiago’s mom’s coveted salsa recipe. While she initially declined, offering a few pints as a consolation prize instead, those jars never lasted more than a couple of weeks.
During one visit, she caught them off guard and finally shared the secret. The recipe was surprisingly simple, but it sparked a larger inspiration. With the salsa mastered, Natalie began looking at what else could be crafted from scratch; and the journey for Always Canning officially began with a glance at a jar of strawberry jelly in the refrigerator.
