Chip Gerhardt

Chip Gerhardt has come to Findlay Market for as long as he can remember, often coming as a child with his mother. His mother was part of a produce co-op and would get fresh produce in a wicker basket weekly. As an adult, Chip would venture to Findlay Market with his wife and children. The Board of Directors for Findlay Market recognized Chip’s love and devotion for the market, so they approached him about joining.

Chip is on a number of different boards throughout the city and loves to volunteer his time, especially during Findlay Market’s Christmas Tree Sale. Chip tells us that he loves the holiday season at Findlay Market, and more importantly, he loves selling and interacting with people.

“Selling Christmas trees engages us with clientele in a different way. People will look at the trees and remember Findlay Market,” says Chip.

Chip is proud to be a member of the Findlay Market Board of Directors. One of his proudest accomplishments on the board is his work on Findlay Kitchen.

“I’m proud of the fact that we are committed to providing healthy food options for people of all walks of life,” says Chip. “I’m proud that we maintain our identity as a market.”

Chip loves bringing people who have not been to Findlay Market for many years or have never been before. Chip finds himself constantly surprised by the number of people from the region who have never been. Once Chip brings them, however, they become regulars.

Like every other organization and business, working through the pandemic was stressful. However, Findlay Market came through and thrived in many ways.

“We learned about our resiliency and our merchants' resiliency - and that made us stronger,” says Chip.
